TWD devotes itself to providing clean drinking water as a strong social commitment. Today many countries not only inherently lack water resources, but also face deteriorating raw water quality in some regions, thus requiring highly complex and energy-consuming technologies to make it accessible and fit for human use. Ever since the construction of water infrastructure of Taipei began during the last century, sourced from Xindian River and the surrounding mountains, using slow and fast filtering technologies, we have been dedicating extensive resources and care to achieving water purity, all in order to provide high quality potable tap water to the millions of residents in the greater Taipei area.
In this special issue, we will introduce the history of drinking water quality improvement in the greater Taipei area, including a summary of the four lines of defense for water quality, and clarification of key concepts in water usage. We hope you can join us in substantial action and thus enjoy safe, healthy, and high quality Taipei water.
