Besides maintaining water quality, the Taipei Water Department (TWD) is also actively implementing energy saving and carbon reduction policies. TWD has labeled 2007 Environmental Year One, to show its willingness to cooperate with enterprises in environmental protection, and also to inspire people to cherish the Earth, and to create a clean and beautiful home through changing their habits and ideas. This issue introduces the efforts of the TWD in energy saving and carbon reducing projects, including planning a solar powered optronic water purification plant, phasing out and changing pipeline, recycling water purification sludge and implementing measures that require your participation such as using family water-saving spacer sets, implementing e-bill, implementing routine checking and repairing of water equipment, etc.
